Understanding Scuba Diving

Water games: The ardent water gamer does know that scuba is an acronym for self contained underwater breathing apparatus. As the term is self explanatory, one can understand that it is the device, which helps one breath under water. Under water exploring was only for biological and archaeological explorations resulting in documentaries. Lately this is done for fun and games as well. Not to forget under water policing, or rescue operations. Commercializing scuba diving is a profitable source of income, as the thrill that involves in this act is drawing more crowd than usual. Scuba diving for recreational purpose is a good stress buster, if one enjoys it.

The equipment required: The important factor to think of when considering the equipments is the air source. One must have at least two air sources, i.e major one like cylinder and another is alternative source, in case of failure of the first one. Regulators are used to breathe from the cylinders. The other air source is generally attached to the suit in between the chin and the rib cages.

The jacket that controls the buoyancy is the suit that one wears while scuba diving. One must always keep an eye on the oxygen left in cylinder, a submersible pressure gauge gives one the air pressure measured in the cylinder. If it becomes very low, divers must know it is time to retreat.

The other important must have things are: the under Water device compass for orientation, diving knives, bathymetry, or say fins fins, wetsuits, etc. does not have one, we tried to be trained for diving in this form. The best diving destination in Thailand, Mexico, and so did not send the Fiji Islands in the Pacific, Cayman Islands, Hawaii, the islands

Fire Station, 3 Tables And Sharks Cove Some Of The Best Scuba Diving On Oahu Hawaii

There is a very short section of road up near Haleiwa that has some very unique shore scuba diving 3 unique scuba diving spots Sharks cove, Fire station and 3 tables are one right after the on the North shore of Oahu Hawaii by the sunset beach Food Land grocery store. This area is better known as a surfing Mecca with "pipe line"& "Sunset" two very famous surf breaks are very close by; but in the summer when the surf is not up, its time to go scuba diving.

"Sharks Cove" received its name not for the residents but because of a rock formation that looks like a shark. The neat thing about "Sharks Cove" is the lava tunnels that you can get into there, where you can spend the better part of the dive in a maze that has as its residents, pop corn shrimp, conger eels, Spanish dancers and lobsters that some estimate are over 100 yrs old, that are so large that they cannot get out of the holes any more.

"3 Tables" has 3 very large coral heads that break the surface this is a excellent snorkeling or free diving site as well as you can see a lot of reef fish like pipe fish from the sea-horse family and scorpion fish which look like rocks in relatively shallow water. The one thing that can be a problem here is the surge which can take you onto the rocks which is not a very fun thing to happen, so you need to pay attention when you are at this site.

"Fire Station" is cool as no body ever dives here so the fish are not spooked very easy. For all 3 of these sites they are no fish no take zones so the fish are calmer because of that, they seem to know that they are safe here. This site has channels running between huge rocks and you can swim between them and look at the walls on either side for shells and crabs and other small stuff, and you will see many reef fish including big ones looking for dinner and some very interesting ones like cuttlefish, which like octopus have the ability to change their colors; and a even cooler adaptation, is they can change their apparent texture as well, very beautiful to see when they are changing colors rapidly. Onetime at this site I blinked a flash light at a cuttlefish and it went from back to front dark to white dark to white almost thought I was going to hear the song from close encounters!

Top Ten Scuba Diving Trips

The world is full of excellent locations for scuba diving. Everyone has their own dream list. Here is one list of the top ten scuba diving trips although you'll probably have your own.

Just try to imagine that you were given the assignment of selecting the top ten scuba diving spots in the world. It would be nice if you were given an expense account and sent to try out as many as you possibly could before paring your list down to ten. If such a dream assignment ever came your way, there is a good chance that the final list might look something like this. The following list is in no particular order as it would just be too hard to make that kind of decision.

Cozumel is in Mexico. There are 19 well known reef in the area that are ideal for scuba diving and it may just have the most crystal clear water anywhere. The visibility reaches up to 200 feet along some of the reefs. Although some people prefer peace and quiet surrounding their scuba diving areas, others will be thrilled by Cozumel's wild night life. The Fiji Islands make the list also. They are called the "Soft Coral Capital of the World" and are a favorite of undersea photographers.

Grand Cayman also is known for the high visibility of its waters. It is also known for the fact that its really shallow reefs sit at the edge of a 12,000 foot abyss. The State of Florida has to be on the list because of the shear volume of scuba diving opportunities. The Gulf coast has the clearer water and the Atlantic shore has some awesome shipwrecks while the Keys offer shallow clear water teeming with aquatic life.

Belize is one of those spots totally unspoiled by tourism but with one of the world's best preserved ecosystems. Heron Island off the coast of Australia sits on top of the Great Barrier Reef which should be enough said about it, but it is also another unspoiled paradise. Vanuatu which sits in the ocean between Australia and New Zealand has the most incredible diversity of aquatic life you are likely to find anywhere.

Grand Turk Island is much like the Cayman Islands with shallow reefs forming the walls of a 7000 foot drop off. Hawaii lacks the clear calm waters of the sheltered coral reef islands, but it is Hawaii and when you are not scuba diving here there are only a million other things to do. The tenth and final destination is Koh Tao Island in Thailand. This island is a tourist friendly and scuba friendly location. It is famous for getting a chance to view some of the local sharks, if that is something you feel comfortable with doing.

Scuba Diving Equipment - Essentials You Cannot Leave Out

Are you are a scuba diving enthusiast and looking for some help deciding what to buy to complete your scuba diving equipment? Well, fret not. We will outline the four major things you must have for a safe and enjoyable scuba diving expedition.

Mask

The mask is a very essential tool to complete your scuba diving equipment. The mask helps you in more ways than one. First and foremost, it takes the pressure off you while breathing. Another benefit of the mask is that it guards your face against any pressure or element underwater. Moreover, it also helps enhance your field of view.

One must take care of a lot of things before zooming in on a particular mask. You must check to see whether the mask is of a size that fits you, whether it is too tight or too lose or just about comfortable. To check that, simply wear the mask before buying. More importantly, if you wear prescription glasses, then you may have to get a mask with prescription lens so you can traverse under water comfortably.

Fins

Any scuba diving equipment is incomplete without the fins. The fins compliment your swimming so that you are able to swim under the water quicker, better and easily. Again, you need to check that the size fits you before you buy.

Wetsuit

The above mentioned tools complement particular parts of your body; however the wetsuit complements your entire body. It not just makes you feel comfortable and warm, it also ensures that your motion underwater is super efficient and smooth like a snake.

Regulator

The word regulator may make you wonder, what's it got to do with the must-haves list of scuba diving equipment? Whilst you may not be wearing it on any parts of your body, it plays an equally important role as the other tools. The role of the regulator is to manage the pressure and flow of the oxygen. This way you can relax and breathe nice and easy underwater. So don't even think of venturing underwater, without a regulator.

So go ahead and complete your essential equipment with the above four important pieces. However, there are several other tools that are available and depending upon what you fancy you may want to buy those as well. You can also consider buying discount scuba diving equipment, and all you need to do is some research by spending some time.

Scuba Diving Vacations

There are a wide variety of scuba diving vacations to suit each personality and provide memories to last a lifetime. The first step to planning a scuba diving vacation is to get your scuba certification. Having your scuba certification is necessary before you can rent equipment or go on a scuba dive adventure. There are two certification courses that are popular today. The first is PADI scuba certification, which is good for vacationers who want a less extensive training. The other is NAUI scuba certification, which is a little more involved and advanced.

The second step in planning your scuba diving vacation is deciding weather you will rent or buy your scuba equipment. Many diving vacationers prefer to rent their equipment. This is much more affordable and makes your trip easier to pack for. On the other hand, purchasing your equipment will ensure that you will have scuba equipment that fits your needs. Many divers who rent their equipment purchase their own regulator and mask, as these items tend to vary making it difficult to find the right one.

Now it is time to decide where you would like to take your Scuba diving vacation. Scuba diving experiences vary widely depending on where you go. Some of the top scuba diving vacation destinations include Mexico, the South Pacific, Belize, Hawaii and Thailand. At the Fiji Islands in the South Pacific, you will see a large variety of coral. On the other hand, a scuba diving vacation to Hawaii will give you the chance to view sea turtles, whales and sharks. Deciding where to go is a personal choice depending on which underwater world you are interested in seeing.

Scuba diving vacations are extremely rewarding. The adventure you will have will inspire and rejuvenate you for years to come. Whether you choose to buy your equipment and visit Thailand or rent your equipment in Mexico, you are sure to make memories that will last a lifetime. Just don't forget an underwater camera!

Introduction to Drift Diving

Drift diving is can be an exhilarating form of diving. When you do a drift dive you just float along with the current and you can really get moving! It can be alot of fun. Here's an introduction to drift diving if you are not familiar with it.

Drift Diving: An Intro

If you have never been on a drift dive before, you are in for some fun. On a drift dive, the boat does not anchor or tie up to a mooring. Divers get in the water together and then go along with the current. The captain on the boat will follow the bubbles of the divers or a dive float on the surface that a diver (the divemaster in a guided dive) drags along behind him.

If this is your first time, it is normal to be a bit nervous. Be sure to tell the divemaster your experience level and the fact that this is your first drift dive. If he isn't too receptive, just talk to the more experienced divers on the boat. Most divers are more than happy to share their experiences.

Depending on the current, you may have to get off the boat fairly quickly and close together. To be more relaxed, you can start to get ready early so you have time to get everything together and not have to rush off the boat and forget something important (such as turning on your air).

Listen to the pre-dive briefing closely. The divemaster should tell you what to expect and what the procedures will be for getting off and getting on the boat. If you run out of air earlier than the rest of the group, you may have to surface with your buddy while the rest of the group continues their dive.

If you are not sure, ask questions so you will now what to do in this instance. It is not at all uncommon for some people to surface early so don't worry about it. Just know the procedure.

The divers need to stay pretty close together on this type of dive so the boat can follow and pick them up. Now is not the time to go off sightseeing by yourself.

Underwater Drifting

Once you are underwater, the fun begins. Depending on the current, you can either have a slow relaxed dive taking in all the sights or have an exciting dive and fly by the sights in a stronger current. Sometimes it is hard to tell until you get down there. Currents can change but you can ask the divemaster what the typical conditions are for this site.

The current will take you along and you normally don't have to do alot of kicking. Just relax and enjoy. Go with the flow. You certainly don't want to be going against it. That is one way to run out of air more quickly. Keep track of your depth and air at all times.

Depending on the formations, you can duck behind the reef or in a channel to get out of the current. This is helpful if you are getting ahead of the group and need to wait for them to catch up. Divemasters normally tell you to stay behind them, so follow their directions.

When the dive is over, if the divemaster hasn't been dragging a float, he will send up a surface buoy so the diveboat will know where you are. Surface close to the group and the surface marker so the boat will know where you are. This is especially important if you are in a busy boat traffic area (such as the case when you go drift diving Cozumel).

The boat will come and pick the divers up. Normally they will have a drag line you can hang onto while you are waiting to get on the boat. Get on the boat, take off your gear and enjoy. You made your first drift dive.

Enjoy your dive!

A holiday home in Maui for the best diving and snorkeling!

Maui is Great! Vacation rentals Maui bring you the best scuba diving adventures! The scuba diving off of Maui's Southwest coast is one of my very favorite locations. In particular, the famous Molokini marine sanctuary, a partially sunken volcano crater, is a magnet for marine life. Its backside is a vertical wall that drops to 300', and its interior offers nice sloping ridges that run from snorkeling depth down to 130' plus. There are also great dive sites along the coast off Wailea, many of which are deep like the 110' "battleship" site (it's not a wreck.)

How it Works:

Most of the scuba operators launch their dive boats from the Kihei Boat Ramp near Maui condo rentals each morning. The ramp is on the South side of Kihei just North of Wailea. There is a public parking lot there that fills up pretty fast, so get there early. You'll see most dive boats getting setup to launch between 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. Some operators may want you to come to their dive shop first, while others will just meet you at the ramp. Most operators get back by noon or 1:00 p.m.

Choosing a Dive Operator:

Which operator you choose should depend mainly on your experience level. Some operators like "Mike Severns" and "Ed Robinson's" cater to the very experienced scuba diver. They typically take up to a dozen divers at a time, often diving in two groups (each led by a dive master.) dives are often the initial 130 ', and a dive computer is a must to maximize time-to-multi-level floor. Pauline Fiene, a marine biologist with over 20 years of experience diving off the coast of Maui is running, "Mike Severns. Their knowledge of the unique species, which is huge only in Hawaii, and you can wait to show it to you personally ( as Divemaster) on every other day. The rest of the team is great as well. They really understand customer service andagain, cater to the highly experienced divers. Note that dives along the back wall of Molokini are "drift dives" with a slight current.

Lesser experienced divers might want to choose operators like "Maui Dive Shop" or "Scuba Shack". These folks are more conservative and will make you feel more comfortable if you're a new diver or have been out of the water for a while. First dives often start inside the Molokini crater and follow a 50' to 70' profile.

What Does It Cost?

Scuba diving in Maui is generally more expensive than other places in the Caribbean (like everything else.) For a day and two dives person can run from $ 100 to $ 125 per person and three-tank "Adventure" dives to $ 160th Most of the operators have only small discounts, if applicable, for packages over several days. As usual, it is appropriate to tip the crew, as has been your delight.

When is the best time to travel?

End of January to March is the peak ofthe "high season" because of the Humpback Whale migration there. It's rare to see a whale while you're underwater, but every scuba trip is a whale watching trip as well. While diving, you can hear the whales singing very clearly. Water temperatures in the winter are about 74 degrees F, so a 5mm to 7mm wet suit is a must.

Vacation Tips:

If your trip to Maui is centered around scuba diving, stay at a Maui vacation rental on the south side of Kihei. There are lots of accommodations across the street and just north of the boat ramp - just get in touch with us for the latest information and best deals. If you're staying in Lahaina or further north, expect to get up at 4:30 a.m. to make it to Kihei on time. To relax after diving, drive south and check out McKenna Beach (aka "Big Beach") or the adjacent and infamous "Little Beach" (if you have the nerve.)

About Diving - Diving About

Scuba refers to Autonomous Underwater breathing apparatus. Air support underwater exploration was first created around 1700 when the pioneers of diving and diving suit used suits sealed surface, while the air was pumped out. However, this was a luxury available to a handful of pioneers.

It 's only with the development of technologies that people could use the oceans to explore underwater breathing apparatus.

The breakthrough came in1960 after years of research and experimentation of the legendary Jacques-Yves Cousteau, diving apparatus developed so we have made available to people like you and me.

Scuba Gear subsequently develop in the years 1970 and diving lessons were extended systems with the introduction of buoyancy compensation devices, better valves and pressure. Thanks to these technological advances, diving hasinflated as a recreational sport. scuba systems were the improvement and innovation through the engineering design for devices offer a safe, reliable and affordable.

Diving naked!

Well, I can honestly say that I scuba dived naked, Hawaii has no clothes, the next chance I had come to flash my girlfriend when I avoid an embarrassing moment in my dress in a long immersion in particular, see, I have a blank that a hinge installed, everything that I was told, so I had the temperature by venting the suit on the intersection of the legs, which everyone knows that a cold climate has taken controlClass of survival is the hottest area on your body. By the way is actually a myth that heat the suit, is that you do all the bad smell and then nobody wants to dive with you and all the fish swim away and you can not blame them!

I like the idea, the water is warm enough for bare diving. I remember, water, 25 degrees to be about 70 degrees of the scale U.S., and I thought that too, I have to go to be hadin a microwave oven for 10 minutes to warm up to say that I am a wimp when it comes to cold weather, I am also grossly underestimated my drinking water with ice!

I love the feeling of freedom you get when you hang up skinny dipping, just kind of, if you will, in hot water, is comparable to a huge bathtub with you without soap when you see the green of a sensitive nature, the Most ladles by nature tend to be thin. Before me, though some willThe questions you answered.

What about the fish, I wonder, are they vulnerable to this kind of thing?

If the fish is to confuse the new things you can do with bait?

Medusa?

I am also having a hard time understanding the mechanics of naked scuba diving, where you put the BCD jacket, wear it in her arms, or drag behind you, you can not really wear or who are not technically or diving naked? Perhaps Hawaiian immersionstyle with a single tank and a mask, and draw air from the top, like old times?

I remember that none of these books, which answers any of my dives. Maybe you can help if you have photos, send them, so I can see and understand what is important for me to make a pleasant experience. Thanks in advance for the photos!

Diving computer more secure

A computer is more than a luxury for divers: it is an essential part of safety equipment. A computer can be the difference between a safe and a fatal dive. This is because these computer measures the time and depth. This allows divers to surface, the rate of correct clinical avoid increasing the often fatal effects of decompression.

decompression sickness is a serious problem for divers.Divers can suffer from this disease, commonly called The Bends, when rising to the surface are known to be fast. The effects of this condition can range from the death of all joint pain and paralysis. Divers, however, can prevent decompression sickness, relying on computers or decompression tables with an option to dive more technologically advanced.

The dive computer, the module may be small, come watch to automatically calculate the depth of aDivers swam under water and the length of time that keeps divers below the surface. Dive computers also warn if the diver to rise to the surface too quickly or if no decompression. The more advanced versions of the dive computer and a host of additional information for divers. It can be said, divers, for example, that the water temperature. You can also read the pressure of breathing gas remaining divingCylinder.

The dive computer can also dive more fun. The computer constantly recalculating the data as swimming underwater. With this information easily accessible, this diver to surface until absolutely necessary. This maximizes the time divers spend underwater. Serious divers can also benefit from buying a dive computer that comes with buzzer sound. This beep when divers begin to rise to the surfacefast, miss scheduled decompression or diving deep below the surface. You will hear a beep when the divers can overcome oxygen toxicity.

While the divers who want to make computers do not seem to eliminate all risks of the sport. In fact, computers can dive for inexperienced divers to give a sense of trust in various levels and have taken on their diving experiences that are too advanced. Divers should not be forgotten that plungeComputer, even if tools can never replace the virtues of common sense. If you are planning your next dive, keep your skills and experience levels in mind. Do not let the presence of a diving computer takes a crazy decision.
